MLC flash-based units are said to have 240-Mbyte/s read and 200-Mbyte/s write speeds
Presented as the industry’s first 512-Gbyte solid-state drive, the THNS512GG8BB is the largest-capacity model in a family of 2.5- and 1.8-in. drives and 1.8-in. modules. The family of four drives (64 to 512 Gbytes) features 240-Mbyte/s maximum read and 200-Mbyte/s maximum write speeds.

The drives use 43-nm multilevel cell NAND flash and have a SATA-2 (3-Gbit/s) interface. They also offer AES data encryption to prevent unauthorized data access and operate on 3.3 V (module, 1,8-in. drive) or 5 V (2.5-in. drive).
They operate from 0° to 70°C with a 1 million hour MTTF. (Approx. pricing: 64 Gbyte, $220; to 512 Gbyte, $1,650 — samples available 1st qtr, prod qty, 2nd qtr.)
Aluminum pin-fin, copper-plate construction enables high performance over a variety of sizes
Comprising an array of forged aluminum pin-fins reflowed onto a copper plate, a line of hybrid copper/aluminum heat sinks reduces weight by up to 50% compared with standard copper pin-fin devices. The heat sinks are available with thermal resistances from 0.05 to 2.25°C/W at 400 lfm, and are designed for air speeds from 100 to 400 lfm to suit applications requiring large, low-profile cooling such as semiconductors, multidevice cooling in SMT environments, and embedded applications.

The heat sinks are offered in pin counts from 242 to 3,600, and come in footprints from 1.5 x 3.0 in. to 8.2 x 8.2 in. with heights from 0.3 to 1.3 in. (From $15 — available now.)
Made up of software and hardware that targets either board-level or embedded memory applications, the DDR3 protocol debug and validation test suite is said to be the industry’s first DDR3 test tool, as well as being most comprehensive. The suite encompasses the industry’s fastest (2.0-Gtransfer/s) full-channel 16962A logic analysis module, probes for DDR3 BGA and DIMM devices, and a DDR3 compliance and performance software environment.

With 2-GHz trigger sequence speed, the logic module can reliably trigger and capture DDR3 1600 signals and, for embedded systems, the W3630A Series probe (see figure) provides direct access to the solder balls of a BGA DRAM with low loading and minimal impact on signal integrity. The N4835A DDR3 slot interposer probes server and desktop applications, enabling access to high-speed (up to 1.6 Gtransfers/s) memory buses through on-board slot connectors. Probes are used with scopes and logic analyzers for physical layer and functional test.
The B4622A DDR2/3 protocol compliance and analysis environment provides timing and protocol violation checks, an automated physical address trigger setup tool, and an overview of system performance through both bus statistical information and histogram views of address access. (Embedded configurations from $101,000; system configurations from $216,000 — software, probes available now, logic analysis modules available in May.)
